This book is written without speech punctuation which for me is giving the book a sound and making it harder to read. The dialogue has no definition. So far I'm not really liking it. Pearl comes across to me as if she feels she is owed something. She's not a happy character. I'm finding her irritating.

So far this book isn't really grabbing me. The first is introducing the characters. The author uses lots of descriptive words. This book is very moody. Pearl feels very guilty about not being there more for her brothers. This is coming across loud and clear. The author uses a lot of short sentences.
