The opening was... jumbled. I get what the author was trying to go for, but a lot of the details telling the reader about the protagonist ended up feeling like purple prose. Because of this, you get this weird vision of the protagonist. This is also the case with her Windup. (mecha) It was a weirdly detailed, yet not, description. If this is how all descriptions go in this novel, it's going to be a hard read.

I have realized what is bugging me about this book. It's the prose. It borders on purple prose and that often makes it hard to visualize what is going on. I had to go back at points and reread sections to better grasp what happened because the author would rather wax on about what everything is like, rather than actually describe what is happening.

So I was having some issues with this book with the size of the mech and its description. At times, it feels battletech, others warhammer 40k, and others, anime. As for it's size, it's 100' according to online. Reaver titan in 40k is 83'. Gundam Barbatos is 59'. Gypsy Danger is 260' tall. Hope that helps someone figure out just how big this mech is...
