Are you enjoying that? I feel like I should read that series but it seems like a long term commitment!

I'm a little torn tbh! The story itself is pretty entertaining so far. But I just can't get over all the violence, particularly against women, and cruelty. I wish he had restricted that to a bare minimum but he seems to enjoy writing this. The writing itself is only just ok. It's really mostly the world-building and story itself that kept me reading and listening so far. I was planning on throwing in some Virginia Woolf after the first part, kind of like a feminist piece of ginger to neutralize the misogyny. :)
(I realize this is not very helpful probably! Hope you will start feeling better soon. I have recently started a more "aggressive resting therapy", so 200 hours of audiobooks come in very handy!)

Wow, thanks for this! I watch the show and yeah it is really disgusting sometimes, I guess he tries to mirror historical aspects of the brutality of life in his books, but I'm with you, definitely have a hard time with violence against women. :( I almost stopped watching after that rape scene.

I hope your resting therapy yields equally aggressive results! I don't have much energy but I can read a little bit again as long as I keep it kind of light.
