Dude was really out here in 1862 saying “go touch some grass. we don’t know anything about the world. isn’t that awesome?” and he is STILL CORRECT

i love the way he describes Nature as a force and a being. sometimes he loses me with the VERY detailed accounts of finding seeds or walking (LOTS of walking, but what else did they have to do for fun back then?) but the emphatic philosophical bits make me smile
