Ah okay, and I didn't stop to research steel making or Hobbes' air pump or anything, that's why I always stop there. It's inconceivable that two people would do the entire scientific revolution on their own, but okay I guess.
The other problem is that each chapter ends depressingly (they don't die horribly in chapter 2, but the story ends right when everything goes wrong). It's 800 pages and really rough.
