This is a very slow book that requires a lot of patience. Polansky's prose is dense and his plot-threads have no apparent hooks yet. Still, I'm confident in him. Usually he flips a switch around the mid-point of his books so I'm expecting things to take a great turn in the next 50-100 pages...

Still a slow-burner, reading this book is a bit of a slog. The prose is impressive but often too dense, the characters are interesting but the plot moves incredibly slow with almost no hooks.

Polansky has proved to be one of my favorite authors in the past. This one has started a bit different, very slow with dense prose and lots of infodumping. Let's hope it gets better.
