While SJM’s writing has improved tremendously over the course of this series, I’m tired. Book 2 is easily my favorite and I haven’t been as charmed by these characters since; the development for them hasn’t been as meaningful—they’ve been at my house too long and I need to kick them out at this point.

Everyone knows the best way to help someone who self-harms and doesn’t want to live is to keep secrets from them, make decisions on their behalf behind their back, and then throw them into the wilderness for pointing out hypocrisy.
