hmm…mixed feelings on this one. i don’t really mind protagonists who are self-inserts, unless it’s so obvious as to be distracting, which this one very much is

i’ve become so much more critical of prose/“sentence-level” than i used to be, and it’s bc i started writing. i now feel a pressure to read “good prose” so that i can absorb it and elevate my own writing. can’t decide id this is good or not.i’ve started to categorize everything i read as “there are sentences which i could not have written” and otherwise. this book and the last one are in group 2
