Stopped reading this a year ago because Sephryn is “painfully stupid” (the words of another reviewer). Might finish, probably won’t. The victimhood thing is not working for me here, although I loved Red Rising. That’s because this book tells me that people are oppressed and Red Rising showed it through personal stories. The writing is good and I loved the author’s previous titles so a few more chapters…

The Nolyn parts are great, especially because it starts with a version of The 300. His counterpart is pretty dumb, though, and her story is cringe. I’ll come back to this in a few days, maybe. Also I hate ‘wantum mechanics’ where a technology or magic appears just when the writer needs it. This has that.
