A book told from the perspective of the instrument (a cello, in this case).

Disappointing that so little is said about Heinrich Schiff!
Also, I would have LOVED to get details about how the Mara came to Christian Poltéra (Schiff's former student) in the end, where it has been ever since. Sadly, it stops with the end of Schiff's career. :/

I can't look, I can't look, I can't look. We're getting close to THE event in this cello's life and it is ... daunting, to say the least. You see, this gorgeous wooden instrument ended up in a river. Yep. You read that correctly. I shall go into more detail in my review, but it is about as shriek-inducing and heart-wrenching as you're probably imagining right now.

The writing really makes you work for it. The author is definitely showing how long a German sentence can be while still making sense. *lol* It does make me wonder if he's just a tad pretentious though.
Like with his supposed dislike for the hype around instruments such as the Mara. I mean, yeah? Then why are you writing a book about its impressive life, tooting into the same horn?! *lol*
