Kitty Doe is a truly terrible person. She's selfish, impulsive, and simply not a likeable protagonist.

Wow. That was a backhand full of knuckles right there, Benjy. Didn't know the cardboard cutout love interest had it in him.

Ugh. I don't care that they were locked in and couldn't go anywhere, having sex and laughing and being happy when there's a battle going on outside the house you're staying in is just bad form.

I'd forgotten how much of a self-righteous idiot our dear Kitty can be.

I probably would have never re-read the last two books in this series - I despise cardboard cutout Benjy and Kitty's entire romance with him - but as I recall, the payout in book 3 is worth it. I just hope I survive until then.
