I really enjoyed reading this - thanks for taking the time to write it! I was coincidentally in NYC at the same time but BEA wasn't on my radar at all (and maybe trying to finangle a ticket as an Australian librarian wouldn't have been a thing anyway). My version of your falafel was Dos Toros vege burritos; I must have eaten a dozen of those things!
