9/10 This was a slower burn. But well written. Double on the friendship. Zuri seemed like she was hiding something. I was right what about. August asking at the right time in the most sweet way was heart warming. And he journals. I loved Xan saying she had her own messes but never had she been brought down bcuz of a man. Also love an appropriate timed anger that is not dragged out but not easy to placate.

The press is sniffing around. He asks Zuri twice if this bringing up bad memories and apologizes again for the past. He is pretty considerate of Zuri’s feelings throughout this whole fake dating setup. Asks if talking about this or that is okay.

One thing I really like is how August treats Zuri. Zuri is his agent. She’s the one who set up this fake romance with Xandra. Zuri and August once had a ONS. The text day or so the tabloids picked it up. If I recall, he just let play out until the tabloids lost interest. Nothing came of of the ONS but Zuri was treated and spoken of badly. He learned his lesson. She’s still his agent and his got a coverage prob

Xandra is his fake gf but she has a real bf that our dude August was not happy to hear about. It’s good so far one thing I like is that he doesn’t punish her for it but does to talk to her about it bugging him. But only downside is that they clearly like each other a little and I am not too how they’re towing the line. It less romantic cuz she has a person

We haven’t got to any of the romance yet but I am really impressed by this book. I think the editing/writing is really sharp. A certain type of clarity to the writing. The characterization has a lot of depth.
