Not fantasy. It's more magical realism. Jump scares. Horrifying images that play on many people's fears from spiders, snakes, carnivals, and the dark. A little humor thrown in there like comedic relief. The best law enforcement partners. Intelligent and trusting of one another. One horror book with more intensity than gore, but plenty of it, still.
