The idea of masses and how this term ambiguous term is undefinable in a concrete and rigorous manner is the subject of the essay. Baudrillard makes an initial attempt to put this case to rest but at some point he misses the point or perhaps confuses himself. The analogy of the silence of the masses with that of the terrorism was quite original and thought provoking.
