She slapped a CHILD?? I know that the kid was way out of line, but she's 13. She's a traumatized 13 year old that's also a brat- but slapping a kid is abuse! She's out here slapping orphans??

Unpopular Opinion: But Lilli is NOT prepared to be a caregiver. I mean she's such a people-pleaser that she victimizes herself without seeing that she's part of the problem.

Okay, I take back what I said about Lili. She's not a terrible aunt. But I will never forgive this author if she turns a poor grieving child into the antagonist of this story. Give this poor girl have a break.

I hate how the author demonizes the niece- she’s literally 13 years old!
She’s a kid who lost her mom to cancer and witnessed firsthand her fathers drug and alcohol addiction. Now she’s an orphan, she’s disabled, and her dreams have been ruined.
Of course she’s going to be upset. She watched both her parents die terrible deaths!
And Lili is so busy making a martyr of herself she’s forgets to be sympathetic
