I had put this novel down around page 41 (end of Ch. 4). I just could not do it. The novel was just impenetrable. Eventually, I misplaced it for a few months. I have picked it up again and made it to p. 89 and am moving forward with not only less /pain/ but with an emotion which beginning to resemble pleasure. We shall see.
