i wish i knew the history better to be able to fully appreciate the beauty of mahmoud darwish’s poems. such a brilliant poet and im unable to understand half of it and im sure a good deal of it was lost in translation before i even started. and yet, the brilliance of this poet can still very strongly be felt. how amazing he must be to those well versed with his language and history!
