‘I don’t know why I never asked what it was that my mother remembered. ‘Remember’ used as a verb that required no object, simply ‘remembering’. If my mother remembered, she got sad. Without an object. And even though I couldn’t do anything to help her, I felt in some way responsible for her sadness. As if I where to blame for my mothers remembering.’
