Status Update

Mike Finn is 22% done

This is a very traditional - bad things are happening and it's only gonna get worse - sort of story so I feel like I could be skimming through it like a graphic novel. Except, I'm not. Instead, I'm finding the string of deaths distressing. Anna Willett has managed to get the pathos right. She's made each death have an impact beyond moving the plot forward. So much so that I feel slightly guilty at watching it happen.

This is opening up in interesting ways. The multiple points of view work to increase the tension. I like the slow slide towards acceptance of the unbelievable. I also like that there seems to be more than one Big Bad and a more complex motivation than achieving the maximum body count.
