When the author mentioned that "the [Duke Ellington's jazz] orchestra had enjoyed one of its periods of greatest stability; except for a brief absence or two, no one had left the orchestra since [the lead trumpet player] in 1929" I feel like the author is foreshadowing another person to be fired or to leave (Hasse 184).
