This isn't even counting the 60+ pages I read from one of the appendices because of a footnote.

It's almost a joke at this point that I'm still reading this 😅 I started on October 2023...

This page number is a lie. I've read tens of pages of footnotes.

This finally feels like it's going somewhere ✨
I mean, somewhere not good, but somewhere nonetheless.

Picking this back up again, but taking my sweet time with it. It is exhausting.

In truth, I've read about 35 pages of this. My edition has a 12 page introduction in roman numerals that is unaccounted for in the overall page count.
So far, I'm really enjoying it, but it's difficult to read so it's a slow process. It feels so authentically turn of the century (when it was, of course, published), down to its found footage quality so reminiscent of The Blair Witch Project.

It's so unusual, but so far I appreciate what it's trying to do and how it does it. I need to make time to read it, but the physical copy I have is brick that is impractical to bring with me to work to read during downtimes.
Can't wait to read more of your updates, Geenah. I have been wanting to read this one for the longest but definitely think I need to purchase a copy because I don't think there's anyway I could check it out from the library and have it back in time 😅 I've heard so many people talking about this on Booktok.

My copy cost almost $30 and, considering it's something of an acquired taste, it'd be a shame to spend so much on a DNF.
I've been trying not to be too spoilery in my updates, but there are so many things that have jumped out to me. Like, there was a 15-ish page tangent about the significance of echoes in literature that was painfully boring to read, but ends in a surprising line that provides insight into the person who wrote it that kind of made it worth it to me? This book is riddled with tangents and I do find it fascinating how you have to abruptly shift your attention at the end of these detours, like "oh right, we were talking about this creepy house before our descent into madness."
Lol that's a good point and suggestion. I'll think I'll try that. Oh man lol I think I'd have to do like a million post it notes or bookmarks to keep track. And wow, 15 pages. I'm glad the end of that tangent kept your interest though. I wonder how it will "end."
