I read the prologue and chapter one. I found it hard to get into the beginning of the prologue, since there were many in-universe words, plus the dialog is very stylized with many words that sound like someone got their hands on a thesaurus.
By mid-way through the prologue I was hooked enough to keep going and want to learn more, but I’m still waiting to find out what the main conflict is, so not fully hooked.

Just finished chapter 2 and the interlude afterwards. At this point, I’m more hooked on the interludes than the actual story, but I am still curious to see how the scheme in the main story is going to lead to Locke and his gang walking away with money. Is it a quick scheme where they get cash and leave or a long con where they do the whole mission?
Also what is the main conflict and when does it show up?
