This is going to be a DNF for me. The dialogue is either too modern or trying too hard to be upper crust and formal, the metaphors are too repetitive and heavy-handed, and the mindsets are too modern for a historical setting (the last straw is a mill worker woman literally saying "fragile masculinity" to refer to the new mill owner). It's a no from me.
