Very confused by the text this morning. The empire waist is a style that goes back to the late 1700s which makes Karin's rocking it in the early 1400s pretty far-fetched. The carriage accident struck me as overly dramatic and I find it difficult to believe the horses would have survived unscathed. And where did Karin's sudden courage come from? Attacking the coachman is completely out of character for her.

Okay now I'm just frustrated. The author is clearly confused when it comes to customs of the day. Nearly every description is suited to Regency and Victorian eras. Info dumping is driving me up the wall and I can't stand the irregular and often irrelevant shift in narrator. Luc? Lenka? WTH? Am I supposed to care about these characters? They hold minor roles, why are we following them?!?!

Moving right along. Stephan is by far the most interesting character in my mind.

Finished chapter one. Slow start. Multiple POVs. Wish there were more concrete details about the setting.
