Okay, but what was the reason? No, literally, what was the actual motivation here? I've never seen such an underdeveloped motivation in a murder plot. It seems like they focused more on the shocking identity than actually fleshing out what would drive them to do that.

Also, there is still an hour and a half left, I really don't have the fortification for a 3rd act break up right now.

Wow, after all the attacks on the public, they've started hiring protection. Who ever would've expected that? That was the stupidest plan I've ever heard.

Wait, this man is literally trying to pin the murder and burglaries on you, so you respond by...*checks notes*... burglarizing? Walking be through that thought process of how this isn't the stupidest decision ever.

Wtf is up with her brother? You claim to know her well, but you think she'd marry someone just because of their title? She just said she wouldn't marry the old duke solely for the title. Also, what is the reason her brother doesn't like him? They were close friends as kids, but no reason given as to why they fell out yet

Did he even care about his dad? I mean, yeah, dude was a POS, but he's moved on pretty quickly.

Hey babe, you're acting like a criminal when you aren't one. You can definitely bring this up to your parents and have them ask the police if they're following you. If they are, oh well; if they aren't, you have a much bigger problem.

The best possible outcome here is that his father is purposefully pursuing her to make Hawk jealous and court her himself, but I have major doubts based on how his father has already been acting.

I really need yall to stop with these awful mothers willing to sell their daughters to perverts just for a title but still trying to treat them as if their good parents. Her mother is a bad person you cannot try to make it seem as if this is just some quirk. Everyone else clearly see that the Duke is a bad person and would treat her terribly, but all her mother sees is the praise she'd get from securing the marriage.

I think I just don't like AH's writing. There's nothing wrong with it, I just never feel especially connected to the stories. The plot is so promising, and by all rights, I should be eating it up, but I don't feel excited when I read this.
