Seriously, this book is so depressing!
"the future Laird MacKenzie was so disgusted with her fecklessness that he would choose to spend his wedding night with books and papers, and she would spend hers all alone. It was no more than she deserved."
He is trying to protect her from himself (who understands why other than he thinks he's terrible and too big) and she thinks she's disgusting.

The cover is a lie. This is not a light and funny sweet romance. So far, it's depressing with impending death of a parent, low self image and negative self talk, oppressive expectations, and fear of the future

I hate how much of this book is taken up with negative self talk from both of them.
