Violet is the absolute worst FMC, like she is handed everything. This saddle that she quotes "not allowed". Riorson, who is not only a better character but more deserving than her.

Even SHE says she is unlikely to succeed, girl why are you here? Dain gave you the out. This seems fruitless, and obviously she will succeed, of course, but there is such doubt in her that I have, bc of logistics.
Also, is this her diary? Because how is all of this transcripted, from dialogue to inner thoughts? It's all just unbelievable.

History is unnaturally given through dialogue to self through nervous spouts. Repeated information, like when Rhiannon talks about overhearing that other years can repeat the first year when literally it was information already given not so long ago to the reader. Violet's disability doesn't align coherently with her mother forcing her to join, and then her willingness to participate. No motive or interest in her.
