I love this book. The imagery of the author’s words effortlessly spring off the page into your mind. I love that I can so clearly visualize what she is telling us. That isn’t an easy feat as this book spans centuries, continents and lives. I have been savoring this one and I’ll be sad once I’m done.

The writing of Black Cake is soo comforting. Charmaine Wilkerson writes in such a way that the images of her story spring into your mind without effort. The dialogue feels so real it’s like receiving the privilege to hear another’s conversation.
