Does the author think arrogant behavior is endearing?
The MC Charlie wants to meet up with Stu, who he had a crush on in high school and at the moment works as an elf at the mall, while Charlie is unemployed.

Nah, that’s not the point. He is self conscious he’s a failure and he thinks that if the other guy is in the same boat than he won’t be out of his league anymore . I found it a bit ..off putting at first too but in time you come to understand his point of view. It’s not perfect,nice and politically correct but it’s..human I think. You’ll get him more at the end ..

Yeah I see that, but he's obsessing over this a lot. He's not very mature, and reallllyy insecure. It's human yes you're right, though. ❤️
Curiously, douchy characters are this author’s usual Christmas M.O. Last year’s MC was even worse than this one and I still loved the book because they’re flawed and petty but somehow they’re human and realistic. Charlie is a bit more endearing though ..😁
