I rolled my challenge goal back to a more manageable level, because reading has been unpredictable, and because I just do not care to be challenged and do not care to gamify myself. Next year I will probably set my goal as one (because I do find it convenient to have a list of just the books I read in a year without trying to root thru Read shelf.

Mine was 175 and I read over 350. I honestly don't care the number, just curious to see what I read. I don't like challenges or book clubs where like in school I am told what to read.

It took me a long time to recognize how much I dislike anyone telling me to read something, regardless of how much it might otherwise appeal.
I used to put around 50 as my goal because I figured I could probably manage a book a week. Life challenges change though so my goal is set at 12 these last few years because I figured I'd probably manage a book a month. I've passed this year's goal despite being the world's slowest reader but if I hadn't looked to be getting close to it I'd have happily changed my target to whatever number I was currently at. Not a problem, it's my (your) challenge and we can do what we want with it :)
