Tate had learned his father died and Kya left him a feather while he was at the funeral. He rushed to her and confessed his love and asked to marry. She said they were already married like the gulls. They spent the rest of their life there. Jodie got married and had 2 kids that would visit. Kya and Tate never had kids and she died at mid 60s. He discovered she was the poet Amanda Hamilton and that she killed Chase.

Kya ran to go feed the gulls and was happy to be free. she got upset when Jodi said they had to talk. She was mad at Jodi for bringing it up and stated she had to go to a murder trial in order to be accepted. He baked her a pie and left so she could be at home in peace. the next day she went out on the boat in hopes to run into Tate. She arrived as Tate was getting into the sheriffs boat and went to Jumpin to see why

They kept fighting in the trial. Was unsure if it was going good or bad. The jurors went to come up with a verdict. They took some hours but came back. Kya was found not guilty. Some of the people who knew of her that occasionally helped like the cashier were happy. The others.. not so much. Jodie offered to take her home.

Kya is still on trial. They are calling witnesses and is going good for Kya so far. Tates dad came to support his son. Tate almost cried of joy.

Kya came back from greenville and went to jumpins. He asked if she heard about Chase and she said no. He told her Chase had died. She was in shock. The court is trying to pin on Kya but her lawyer is doing a good job and defending her. Jodie showed up to the courthouse.

Kya went to Jumpins and he saw her eye. She told him about Chase but couldn’t do anything about it since she’s the Marsh Girl. The trial questions has started. Kya’s lawyer is good af. She might get freed.

Kya is in jail and he keeps visiting her, but she refuses. She meets with her lawyer who suggested guilty plea, but she does not want to be found guilty. The guards cat stayed with her for the night and she enjoyed it. She agrees to see Tate tells him to forget about her. He won’t.

Kya gets a letter from her editor. They are paying for her expenses to meet in Greenville. She is on her way to Jumpin’s when she comes across Tate but her eye is still slightly bruised so she tries to avoid him. He calls her over so they can look atthe microscope and he notices her eye. He thinks it was Chase, but is unsure. They are playful, but she won’t fall for him again. She almost runs into Chase.

Kya’s in jail waiting for her trial. She is the only woman in there, there are 2 other men.

Kya ran off after the Chase encounter. She was scared he would follow. She grabbed food from home and went to the reading shack that Chase didn’t know about. Tate renovated it so he could spend nights there studying the marsh. She understood why Ma left. She comparing herself to a female insect that kills their lovers.. foreshadowing??
