I'm not sure it's officially a series but the author does have other books set in same area and the characters from the other books show up in them. I read her STEAM AND SORCERY and had that disoriented feeling too when all this backstory suddenly appeared. I almost want to say this book might be a re-issue due to what I read in S&S.

Eva: Just looked it up on the Carina Press website. It's book three in the Urban Arcana miniseries. I'm a little hesitant now, cause I hate knowing I've missed so much.
