Had to laugh when Kushner reminds us that God is not Santa Claus. Prayer is the practice of being in the presence of God and requires us to listen as well as speaking.

I picked this up from the library after a year of watching dwindling numbers of attendees at my parish. Kushner muses in the intro if we have become to intellectual & modern to make room for organized religion. Have we lost our souls in the process of gaining personal freedom & material comfort. Has science become the new altar upon which we worship. And this was written in 1989!
