They say that you’re either a Pride & Prejudice girlie or a Jane Eyre girlie. Ive always been a Pride and Prejudice girl. Upon a re-read, I can finally put into words why that is:

Rochester has a messed up past and needs Jane in order for him to try to be better. Darcy wants to take a girl from a messy family and to bring her up to his more legitimate level.

I mean… Which would you rather?

If names matter in this book, e.g. Miss Temple is a refuge for the girls, then Helen Burns is not properly named. Sounds too much like Hell Burns. She is not the hellfire and brimstone type even if she’s devout. I’d think Angela is a more appropriate name for her nature.
