“Revelations came thick and fast now…” I was thrilled but exhausted and nodded off!

I’m already fairly sure I’d like to restart this book as soon as I finish it.

- greenery (no problems there…)
- candles at meals
- outdoor time
- soft materials

“People buy things to realize their aspirations.”

We need to feel happy enough that we no longer need to buy anything else to “make us feel happy”.

Staying home and finding joy in the people around us and the things we have is an act of rebellion nowadays. ❤️

I just dont like Mr. Rochester.

They say that you’re either a Pride & Prejudice girlie or a Jane Eyre girlie. Ive always been a Pride and Prejudice girl. Upon a re-read, I can finally put into words why that is:

Rochester has a messed up past and needs Jane in order for him to try to be better. Darcy wants to take a girl from a messy family and to bring her up to his more legitimate level.

I mean… Which would you rather?

If names matter in this book, e.g. Miss Temple is a refuge for the girls, then Helen Burns is not properly named. Sounds too much like Hell Burns. She is not the hellfire and brimstone type even if she’s devout. I’d think Angela is a more appropriate name for her nature.

But where is Robbie’s boat/radio, then!?

A lot of women squeezing women. Squeezing arms. Squeezing hands. Do women do that? I don’t think so. Seems very frequent in these last pages. Maybe it’s just how women act on faraway islands.

Oh my stars. I hate this sentence. “I was saying to Brittany the other night that you two are such couple goals.” There’s a way to speak and… another way… to write. That sentence glared at me on the page.

I actually really like watching the protagonist grow up
