Sticks, by Karl Edward Wagner - A really excellent horror story. I had forgotten how creepy it was. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Sometimes we forget to blink."
It's been years since I've read this one. I had forgotten about Bwada the cat, forebear of Pet Sematary's Winston Churchill.

Sheesh! I've gotta get my grubby little hands on this book.

I've read most of these stories in other collections first though, but this is turning out to be a pretty superior volume. "Sticks" by Wagner is worth tracking down wherever you can find it.
Well, if I can't find it as a kindle book, then I won't look further. I'll keep an eye out for that Wagner story though!
I miss the days when I could click onto a link of a book from Goodreads to Amazon. Just that easy, then the ability to do so was taken away about the time that Amazon bought out Goodreads. That makes no sense to me on Amazons part!
Unfortunately, no kindle version. Most of these stories have been collected elsewhere though. Do you mean the "Buy on Amazon" link?
Yes! And that link doesn't work for me, and I read off a Kindle fire! It once worked and now it doesn't. Hasn't "for me" for about 4 years. Don't tell me that it actually works otherwise! I did get a new kindle fire for my birthday and have yet to register it, but mayhap I'll have to hurry up and dump my current kindle for my new one!
Does that link still work?

It works for me on the web browser, but not on the app. I have a paperwhite. Don't know if that makes a difference 🤔.
Rebecca wrote: "I read the Sticks story recently, it's in The Mammoth Book of Folk Horror. I really enjoyed it too."Ah, that's where I read it before! The scene when the narrator first goes into the building in the abandoned farmhouse really gives me the chills. The whole story gave me Blair Witch and The Fisherman vibes. I've also read the sticks in the story were an inspiration for the ones in True Detective Season 1.
I thought the Mammoth folk horror collection was great too. I hope you enjoyed it.
