One of my favourite books about the law for a lay person - closing arguments are the most exciting part of a trial. Particularly enjoyed Clara Shortridge-Foltz’ speech about being a woman at the bar in 1890(!) and counsels speech in the Chicago Seven case so far. The latter really invoked some strong feelings and is worth reading if you’ve even a passing interest in the importance of protest in a democracy.
