vague minor spoilers !!
thankfully king took a moment out of this harrowing grief scene to mention you can feel a woman's breasts press against you when she hugs you while crying. i was JUST thinking that this funeral was seriously lacking some tits!

stephen king will look at an old woman having a heart attack on the floor and say "damn this was once a 17 year old with firm breasts". i truly can't with the way this man writes women

No no I actually like some of his more recent work MORE than his older stuff! but I’ve been told that’s a hot take so take it with a grain of salt 😵💫
I just feel like he got less cringe as he got older like 2023 Stephen King would NEVER comment on a woman’s breasts at a funeral he’s just so much cooler now
@Sarah oh that's very good to know actually! i think past stephen king isn't working for me, but i was still considering trying one of his short story collection so i'll make sure to pick a more recent one!
While I still mostly prefer his older works, cringey male gaze description of female characters (looking at Wendy Torrance here particularly) aside, I would definitely say that the newer stuff I've read happily doesn't have those gross bits.
No breast fixation that I can think of in Revival and the first two Mr. Mercedes books, and they were all good books, so I think Mr. King has learned and matured a bit as he's gotten older and wiser.
