So Verne English reputation was interfered with twice. Once by his domineering publisher and the second time by rushed and terrible English translations.

Abraham Lincoln makes an appearance in “from the earth to the moon” but they rewrite the story after he’s assassinated.

I am officially jealous of this guy.

You can absolutely not tell that Verne was a man about town bon vivant from his stories. Apparently he was quite a ladies man (even though most of them were sex workers of some stripe).

He seems to be quite unlucky in love. Maybe that’s the reason he avoids all romance in his stories.

Jules Verne (writer of one of the best deserted island stories) was a childhood fan of Swiss Family Robinson?!? Of course he was.
