The author smilingly drops paragraphs on the reader which are so full of depth that he doesn't realise it's going to take him hours to understand them. I've never read and re-read a book so much in my life (except perhaps Heidegger)

Putting this book on hold for now, I think Real Essentialism and perhaps a few platonic dialogues would be an impt. prerequisite for really understanding it.

The possibility of philosophy as a first order discipline is equal to defending a broadly Platonist ontology / epistemology.
This actually is quite consistent with the fact that the first step in my return to Christianity was insisting on the possibility of metaphysical knowledge and not merely "perception".
