Ms Bacall wrote NOW two years before her death at the age of 89, and she sound’s lonely to me. She sounds like she has been lonely for a long time , so looked up when her husbands died or left. Bogey died in 1957 and Jason Robards and she divorced in 1969. She spent 43 years without companionship and you can read her regret between the lines.
