The hunter is trying to bribe the grandmother and Sylvia with 10 dollars to help find the heron. The grandmother is convinced but Sylvia is not. Eventually, Sylvia does find the heron but doesn't know if she wants to end its life by telling it's secret. She decides to not let the greed of her grandmother get to her and kept the heron's secret.

Conflict - Slyvia has to decide if she wants to tell the hunter where the White Heron is, and if she does the hunter will kill it,
Resolution - She decided not to tell the hunter where the Heron was and save its life. Ultimately losing the relationship between her and the hunter.

The setting of this book starts in the woods on a path, and she goes back and forward from being at the main character's grandmother's farm and the woods full of pine and oak trees. With a sea in the far distance.

The protagonist is Sylvia and the hunter is the antagonist.

I visualized a big pie tree that towered over the rest, and once you reached the top you could see the sea. I saw this using these examples, "The stately head of this old pine towered above them all and made a landmark for sea and shore" (Jewett, 8) and "There was the sea with the dawning sun making golden dazzle over it." (Jewett, 6)

The conflict of the story is that she is scared of a strange man she met while she was in the woods and the resolution is that she started to get to know him and was no longer scared but cared for him.
