... Moses' standing up to the barrons of long island is a sign of his craving for power insofar as he won't share it. Moses' caving to the barrons for money is a sign of his lost for power and inability to care about anyone else.
It might just be that in positions of real authority/responsibility, for the most part any choice you make can be construed as 'wrong.'
I guess that doesn't sell books though.
