So, after the 33% mark, it does pick up to get less "in MC's head" and becomes more like real conversations. Although, I keep wondering if it is really necessary to mention all these pop culture and other references. Letting the characters speak for themselves, preferably in a dual POV setting (wish this book were dual pov) rather than only always telling us their weird thoughts would have been much more enjoyable

The miscommunication is palpable like seriously, Mal, get out of your head and start actually listening.
