Not usually a lover of books set around WWII. I’ve read several and liked them, but they take a lot out of me. I’m here with another and it is absolutely gutting. Exquisite and haunting, you are placed right in the unreal insidiousness of the Nazi takeover. It’s heavy but told through a unique, tender perspective. Feels weird to say I’m loving this, but there it is.
