It's a lovely fic but I don't know why the last ~20k words is even there. It's like the author is enjoying torturing me with redundant non-plot :( And I'm not even talking about the whole novel about competitive rowing that's in there.

I haven't watched the show, but I've noticed the quality of the fics is great. Some really interesting alt universe stuff.

That anime is one of the most brutal and depressing things I've seen, which I normally avoid, but I couldn't stop watching it. And yep, the AU fics are great. Forget Me Not is my romantic crack.

%&&$*)$* I hate when that happens! It's why I can't make myself finish an otherwise superbly written Potter fic: they've been on the verge of a first kiss for at least 5 chapters, only to be interrupted every goddamn time. Not cool.

Not cool at all! Reminds me of shojo manga I used to read. I think one of the series I started ended up going 17 volumes before they kissed. So over that.

Ugh. The only excuse to do this shit is if you're doing NaNoWriMo or have a deadline and feeling particularly blocked halfway through the story. But if your story is already like 80k words, there is just no need or excuse to drag it out by toying with your reader :<

lol mangakas and their time-expansion gimmicks. Like, I get it, they have to hand in a full volume like every week or something, and publisher probably demanded xx volumes, so they get desperate. But yeah, it's so annoying.

And man, I still watch those 12-episodes-long basketball games on the edge of my seat :D

I'm keeping you in my prayers whenever you start watching Attack on Titan! Thank god there's fix-it/AU fic.

For real. I just watched the new season of Haikyuu and cried like a baby at their struggle and their fighting spirit. But that's nothing compared to when two guys call each other "partners" or "you're my light and I'm your shadow" in a completely heterosexual way.

I am reading Days, it's by the same mangaka as Over Drive and it's made me cry I don't know how many times and they have only released like twelve chapters.

Seriously. There's no reasonable explanation for why that ridiculousness makes us feel that way. Do we have some kind of unrequited longing from childhood to be sport stars? I always felt traumatized by PE in school. Now I'm all over every teen drama about a sports team.

Both are right. There is this scene where the whole team is running up stairs and the new kid is leading the way. It gets me every time.

Full Metal Alchemist, the first one, gets me every time. The funeral scene specially. I've seen it 5 times, easily, and every time someone better hand me some friggen tissues.

FMA was like a sucker punch every week.

i don't even know what it is—anime or graphic novel or what—but i've seen it around and anything rec'd by apeiron and so many other of my fabulous friends on this thread has my immediate attention

I just came across this comment in my feed, and thanks for posting that link. I'm rereading and completing several manga series next year and this should really come in handy for me! :)

I haven't read the manga, just watched the anime. I think it's great, but if you're not used to anime-style theatricks you might find it... weird. Just, honestly, all the warnings. It's brutal.

If you watch the anime, get original audio track. American dubbing actors always sound like they're having a piss.

Idk what fic you're actually reading atm and for what fandom but after mentioning SnK this status makes me think of this.

Ummmm I dunno if we have SNK fic on this site? I know I participated in unofficially adding one fic (Forget Me Not) so julio could put his money where his mouth is, but I haven't seen any others.

The fic from this status was pretty awesome (Jean/Marco because last I checked those were the only characters in SNK) for a long time (if you like reading about competitive rowing and crazy amounts of pining and conflicted feelings) but alas, it was too long and kinda fizzled out.

Have you read To You, 2000 Years From Now? That one is amaaaaaaaaazing. Real epic.

XD I love all of the fanstuff about Connie on the sidelines of their relationship 'are they dating? they've gotta be dating. omfg just kiss already!' He is an exemplary cheerleader.

Can you believe I think the only fic I've legitimately read thus far for Jean/Marco has been short little tumblr fics? Mostly by Keir cuz she's f'ing fabulous and her mind is a dirty place I find solace in and I rec everything she's ever written just saying. Esp. her Fruits Basket fics if you enjoy bottom!Kyou (is there any other Kyou?).

of course there is JM sex, but the epic one is a very ensemble fic (like 3 main pairings or so plus the world-saving intrigue). Forget Me Not on the other hand is very much pure angsty and sexy JM romance <3

Thanks for the rec. Can't imagine what you must be going through, not going through 19 JM fics a day ;p I never read fic on tumblr. Most people have shitty illegible layouts so I'm too lazy to read there. AO3 for life!

And hey, I enjoyed the buildup in this fic a lot. Not holding a grudge for the last 1/3.

yay, I'm never quite sure when the author rates it M but doesn't have any tags suggesting there's something there, ya know?

Pft, I make do with other fandoms. It keeps me alive XD AO3 really does have the best fic layout but thankfully there are some people on tumblr that have a good layout/color scheme for reading the text. More often than not tho... plus it's usually best for ficlets rather than actual fics, but depending on how you navigate it it can be good for finding more recs at least.
