Great detail about New Orleans. Surprisingly good in fact. I preferred the first half of the book, which established the mystery and the setting, over the second, which devolved into confusion and saw the unraveling of its characters. I feel it could have been much better if the story had been simplified and the magical elements had been reduced in favor of character development.
