Loving this so far! Such a refreshingly realistic take on post-apocalyptic society - amazing to see the Church repeating the same patterns that took place after the Fall of Rome… always there to preserve what would have otherwise been lost and provide a refuge for those seeking the truth!

As the book closes out another era in time, the appearance of the Thon makes for some intriguing parallels to leading Renaissance thinkers - all too willing to sacrifice the guiding faith of generations past in favor of a cold and calculating reason. Despite the Abbot’s warning to set limits at the bounds of science before the disastrous pattern of the past repeats itself, the scientist pridefully rejects him.

This book is incredible! Such an engaging story that really makes you think about the way history repeats itself… and the role of the Church in the inevitable scientific and philosophical progress of humanity. The moral of these pages: it is the role of the Church to preserve and share knowledge, not restrict it, but it is *necessary* that she convert the hearts of the recipients to the truth, to prevent disaster.
