There's so much in this paragraph that annoys me.

"I’ve made this mess, and I have to do the right thing and fix it. I look at the demon kiss with a sad smile and make sure my connection with Kleric is locked down tight. He doesn’t need to know what I’m about to do. I swallow. Whatever happens now, I must keep going. I need to be the person who is good enough to be called his mate."

I am very suspicious of "victims" who don't accept your help and then blame you for not keeping them safe. This is just the kind of book where I expect to have a little bit of a twist at the end.

I hate that she blames herself for everything. Seriously, not everything is about you! You're not all powerful you can't save everyone! Nor should you accept blame for other peoples bad choices!

Finally, Kleric shows up in person!!!

Why does he send her takeout but doesn't show up himself? It would be one thing if he was sending her local takeout, but he is sending her takeout that he made and his blood. I want more time with them together!

Ooooh. I knew it wasn't him!

I am feeling cheated that we don't get any words of love from her mate. I was warned that this book wouldn't have the romance side in there as much, but it really is disappointing that the author isn't doing a good job at moving that part of the story forward!

Why does she have a nonexistent love life? Didn't we get the romance going in the last book? Am I not gonna have any satisfying time with her mate?
